Fictional Cartography

I made this map as a “cartographic novel” inventing a fictional narrative and showing it on an imagined landscape of terraformed craters. In order to achieve this realistic look, I used real elevation data from the moon and pulled forest and desert textures from Patagonia and the American West. You can see it printed in the fifth edition of the Atlas of Design.
