Graphics-driven Storytelling

After working on a lot of adventure stories and National Geographic I became curios about what the tallest mountain in the world was—not just above sea level—but from bottom to top. I realized that this answer was not so simple, so I dug into the question, eventually pitching a graphics-driven, feature-length story for the magazine and an immersive digital article, both of which won several awards. Here is the print version—it appeared as a double gatefold, with the two dark flaps opening into the main graphic. See the digital version here. (Click to zoom and see detail.)
